Work
Work hard. Play hard.
Agile Web Development
BounceFire practices agile web development principles to create value-added websites for entrepreneurial businesses. The idea behind agile is that we work collaboratively with your team throughout the entire development cycle and welcome changing project requirements. Storypoints are your currency for meetings, design revisions, features, copywriting, and any additional work necessary through the process. With storypoints, you will be able to build your own experience exactly the way you like. This keeps the entire work cycle flexible and puts you in control of where we need to spend the most time. This also ensures that we aren’t rushing deliverables or spending too much time on minutia.
Instead of spending time on creating contracts we dive in and get started quickly. In doing this we will have weekly working demos for you (design, print, functionality, or plans) so progress is seen early and often. There is a little more to the concept, but check out the agile principles below to learn more about the methodology.
We make a commitment to:
- cut the bull.
- not waste time on 1000 page contracts, but spend the time on the project instead.
- focus on simplicity.
- produce early and continuous deliverables.
- welcome changing requirements for projects.
- shorten development cycles and demo frequently.
- put the minds of entrepreneurs, designers, marketers, and developers together to encourage synergy.
- minimize unnecessary tasks for the client and ensure proper structure so that they can proceed through our process easily and with minimal time investment.
- build projects around multi-disciplined and well-motivated teams.
- believe working software is a primary measure of progress.
- not waste time on ANY extras; they add confusion and extend development cycle.
- pay continuous attention to new technologies, aesthetics, and marketing concepts.
- believe the project is never really completed and strategic partnerships are created.
- constantly reflect on how the team and process can improve
Drupal
All developers have their platform of preference. Ours is Drupal, the same open source content management system used by organizations such as BMG, NASA, The Whitehouse, PopSci.com and of course, TheOnion.
Drupal has a massive development community, a huge install base and it is extremely well documented. It is built on the PHP and MYSQL frameworks so it’s scalable, the database schema is optimized for high performance and it’s freaking free! Most of the modules are anyway, as well as no proprietary licensing fees. Drupal also gives us the flexibility to customize any proprietary code we might need while maintaining a clean, extensible code base. And over the long-term, ROI is not tied down to the performance of a single vendor firm.
Drupal is SEO friendly right out of the box. It is also easy to manage for our clients, as there is no third-party software to download and manage, and updates can be done in the browser via a WYSISYG editor. No need to overwhelm less technical users with options, but they have the user control they need. We like to keep it simple.
But most importantly, we get Drupal. We have worked with it since Drupal 4, and each update adds speed, scalability, and versatility to our offerings for clients. We understand the system very well, so sticking with Drupal helps us rock out great websites quickly and effectively. Now that is hot.
